A Little About Me

I have enjoyed art for many years as a doll artist for the Danbury Mint as well as painting custom tiles for kitchens and baths  professionally .  I have always involved art as part of what I do whether it be teaching Sunday School to Preschool and Elementary students, which I've done for the past twenty years, or teaching Pre-K at a private school.

I have been married for 19 years to my husband who is currently a Dallas Police Sergeant.  I have a son who is a  Sophomore at Wylie High and a daughter who is an 8th grader at Cooper Jr. High.

This is my second year in Wylie and I am proud and excited to be a part of the Dodd team.

Please feel free to contact me anytime during my conference period from 8:05 - 8:25am each morning or anytime after school. I look forward to challenging your students to express their creativity through the wonderful world of art !

"I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. "

Some things I'll be collecting over the course of the year for projects are :

* balloons  * foil   * wax paper   * bags of flour  * sequins ( any color )  * metal coat hangers

 * crepe paper ( all colors )  *snack-size ziplock baggies * paper towels

------------------------------------------------------------------

We began our unit on Texture the first week of the new year

by adding visual and tactile texture to our art using tissue paper...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The week of October 22nd students "tore" into fall by

creating some colorful "mosaic tear-art"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The week of Sept. 17th the students explored different ways

to use oil pastels.  We had fun smudging and smearing our

way to some great works of art !

What have we been up to in art class?  The first week of school

students were each given the exact same amount of colored

shapes to create a design with.  We had some very different

and delightful designs - take a look ...
