![]() ![]() Homework 1.) Spelling- I have provided a “Spectacular Spelling” composition book for each student to complete their spelling homework in each week. A list of spelling choices will be glued in the front of the book. Your child will need to do 3 choices per week. (Shorter weeks will require only two choices). The book will go home on Tuesday and all spelling homework will be completed neatly in the composition book and returned to school on Friday. I will take them up each Friday and pass it back out on the following Tuesday. Please mix it up and try different combinations of spelling choices each week. As the year progresses, I will assign point values to activities and they will have to reach the goal by doing a variety of activities. 2.) Math- Math homework will be given twice as week. Please make sure your child completes and returns it the following day as well will be reviewing it in class. 3.) Reading Log-The choice of material is up to you and your child unless I make a specific assignment. The specific directions are on the log. Your child will be required to read a minimum of 100 minutes orally each week from Monday to Sunday evening. Oral reading will help you hear if your child is decoding words correctly. It is also a time that you can access their comprehension skills by asking questions about the story. You can ask them about the setting, the characters, or what else it reminds them off. I am providing some “thick question” stems that you can use for picture book, chapter books, and magazines. A parent signature is required on the log for it to be complete. A six weeks grade will be taken from the reading log. During the week, your child will reflect on their reading log by completing summaries or specific skill related questions. 4.) Additional homework assignments, such as writing or science, and other home projects will be written in the planner or sent home in the Dodd folder, so check it daily.
