About me....
As a recent graduate of the University of Texas - Dallas, I am now starting my second career at Davis. "I have always wanted to be a teacher, but it took me this long to be here. I love teaching and I love kids and I am very thankful and glad to be part of the Davis Team."
Current Curriculum - Bundle 10 - April 2 thru April 30
Testing: Tuesday, May 6th
Math: The Focus is Fractions!!!!!
FRACTIONS FRACTIONS FRACTIONS!!!!! Students will be generating equivalent fractions using manipulatives such as fractions circles and fraction number rods. Your student is moving from concrete and pictorial to abstract when creating equivalent fractions. Students will also generate a mixed number equivalent to a given improper fraction or vice versa. Students will be asked to model situations using addition and/or subtraction involving fractions with like denominators through various means. Ask them about the Lasagna Recipe!
MATH TAKS Test: Tuesday, April 8th
Science: The Focus shifts from Weathering and Erosion to Plate Tectonics, Earthquakes, and Volcanoes! The students will make their own supercontinent (Panagaea) and experience continental drift in our in-class lab called Graham Cracker Tectonics. It was a delicious experiment! Students will learn about earthquakes, fault lines, volcanoes, Ring of Fire, how mountains are made, and rivers and deltas. Your student will also learn how to interpret sedimentary layers and determine the years of the core sample!
