Who are we?

We are a bunch of Burnett Junior High students and teachers dedicated to raise awareness and save the endangered animals and ecosystems on Earth.  We work together with The Earth Foundation and Conservation International to preserve and protect our World!

(2008-2009) Rainforests of Madagascar - Goal: 50 acres - Progress: 14 acres!  :)

(2006-2007) Rift Valley, Kenya in Africa - 80 acres!!

(2005-2006) Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil - 65 acres!!

What do we do?

We meet every other Friday to plan, create, and work together.  We are each responsible for advertising and working the fundraisers, and spreading the word about the endangered ecosystems and animals on Earth.

We welcome any new ideas.  Just e-mail Mrs. Jones (our sponsor teacher) at: angela.jones@wylieisd.net or call (972) 429-3000 ext. 6483

Parent Volunteer Form - We have lots of ways to help!  :)

How can you help?

Our goal, is to collect as much money as possible in order to help protect as many acres as we can.  Last year we helped save 65 acres in Brazil.  This year our goal is 50 acres in Madagascar.  The more money we save, the bigger difference we can make to help save endangered ecosystems in the Rainforests of Madagascar.  Our fundraising efforts include t-shirt sales, paper recycling, and our upcoming Save a Tree Campaign.  Every 35 dollars we raise, saves on acre of Rainforest in Madagascar this year.

Paper Recycling Program - Our biggest need is support in our paper recycling program.  Every teacher in Burnett Junior High is recycling in their classrooms. However, this only averages less than one ton a month.  This does mean we are not being wasteful with our paper use, which is great, but it also means that we are not making much money here.  We are able to earn $1 for every ton of paper recycled here at school.  You can help too!  Bag up any paper products at home and drop them off in our green and yellow dumpster in the front parking lot.  We accept newspapers, magazines, catalogs, mail, school/ office papers, envelopes, poster board, card stock, any type of paper products.  These can be written on, painted, colored, stapled, laminated, etc.  We accept it all, and it can all be recycled.  Please drive by our recycling bin and dump it right in!

Pictures from our Club Meetings - '09 pics still to come
