topBienvenue à mon site-web pour mes classes du français.      à bientôt!      Mme. Richards

Welcome to my WEHS website. Check below for my current class and tutorial schedule for the 2010-11 school year. Copies of assignments will be posted regularly to Skyward in Adobe PDF format. Feel free to email me with questions at the email address: becky . richards @ wylieisd . net

In these times of quick technological change, it is difficult to decide which methods of communication I will love the best. Feel free to follow me on Twitter and Facebook. I maintain a facebook fan page and twitter account for short announcements (@MadameRichards) but may also expand my WEHS French group page as a place for enrolled students to communicate with each other outside of class.

Biographical Information

I moved quite a bit as a child and as an adult. As a result, I have a great respect and awe for the differences and commonalities among people on this earth. Some of the places I've lived as an adult include: Australia, France, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tennessee, and Texas. There are aspects of each of these places which make them "home" to me.

My undergraduate degree is from Kalamazoo College, in Michigan, where I studied French and English. Although I originally intended to become an educator in a small public school district, personal and financial constraints forced me into the private sector where I spent over 15 years as an IT consultant and trainer. Now that I have returned to my original career of choice, I am pursuing a Master's degree in French at the University of North Texas in order to better prepare my students for success not only in French but in whatever languages they choose to study in the future.

I am active in the North Texas chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French where I am the AATF North Texas Chapter Administrator of the national French contest, Le Grand Concours. Le Grand Concours is held nationwide each year in February through April. Last year, over 104,000 students nationwide participated, competing for local and national prizes. (For more information on Le Grand Concours, visit the AATF website or send email to:  legrandconcours @ verizon.net)

Finally (and most importantly) my husband and I have had a few changes to our family. Our daughter, Taela will be two years old this fall, and our latest addition, Oso just turned one in July. Simone is still alive and well, but Greta, Radar and Chat-qui-pu have all left this earthly existence
