Attendance
& Make-Up Work:
You are
responsible for all notes, handouts, labs and projects when
you are absent. It is YOUR responsibility to get your make-up work
from "the
box"
when you are absent.
Any assignments that are due while you are absent are due on the
day you return!
You will find your make-up work in
"the
box"
in the folder for the day of the week you missed. If you don’t
understand something or are unclear about what you need to do, you
may THEN ask me.
You are allowed the same number of days that you are absent to
turn in your make-up work. (If you are absent three days, you have
three days to complete the missed work, etc.)
Grading:
We will have a variety of
activities in Science class -- group work, individual work,
homework, current events, labs, projects, quests, videos, quizzes,
and tests. Projects, tests, some labs, and spiral checks will make up 60% of your
six-weeks grade. These are considered "major
grades." Quizzes, daily assignments, most labs, and
homework will make up 40% of your six-weeks grade. These are
considered "minor grades."
Quests:
Quests will be completed
daily at the beginning of class as a warm-up. The question/activity
will be on the screen or the board when you enter the classroom.
You will complete the quests each day on the same page for one
week. Each entry will be labeled with the day of the week and the
date. Your quests will be turned in on Friday for a minor grade.
If you are absent, you need to write
"ABSENT"
next to that day on your paper in order to not lose points.
Homework:
Many of the assignments
we do can be completed in class if you use your time wisely. Those
assignments not finished or assigned specifically as homework will
need to be completed at home and will be due the next day. You may
turn in an assignment ONE day late for a MAXIMUM grade of a
70. I will not accept late work the last week of the 6 weeks
period.
Projects:
You will have a project
due each 6 weeks in Science. A project information sheet or packet
will be given out at the time of assignment. They may be in class,
outside of class, or a combination of both and will correspond with
the material for that 6 weeks period. The project will count as a
major grade for the 6 weeks. PROJECTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
LATE!!
Zero Policy:
If you fail to turn in a Major Project on the day it is due – You
will receive a zero.
Your first zero on a daily assignment will be a warning. Your
second zero on a daily assignment will be an automatic EVENING
SCHOOL!
If you fail to attend evening school, you will be placed in ISS.
BIG PICTURE: YOU WILL MAKE UP THE WORK!!!
Tutorials:
Tutorials will be available
before school M-Th and after school M-Th. There will be a late bus
to take students home after tutorials if needed.
