Welcome to Ms. Brown’s 1^st Grade Class! I am so excited about this school year. This is going to be a great year of learning and expanding our horizons.

I would like to take a moment and introduce myself to you. My name is Amy Brown and I am very excited to be your child’s 1^st grade teacher. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University with an emphasis on Elementary Education. This will be my third year in the teaching profession. I taught dual language first grade last year at Tibbals, the year before ESL second grade in Austin and student taught in Nacogdoches ESL kindergarten and 3^rd grade. I am thrilled about teaching first grade and I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child.

Your child will bring home a communication folder every day. The folder will have a daily behavior chart and other papers. Make sure to initial it and send it back to school every day.

You are welcome to visit our school at any time. I can always use an extra pair of hands to help prepare materials and games for our classroom. I am in need of helpers who can come on a regular schedule as well as helpers who would just like to drop by when they can. I also need helpers who are willing to do simple things for me at home. Let me know if you are able to help in this way and I will send all necessary materials home with your child when help is needed.

I would like to express to you that I take my job as your child’s teacher very seriously and will do whatever is needed to ensure the success of every student. I do ask that if you have any comments or concerns regarding your child, please do not hesitate to write a note or call the school. I would be glad to answer any questions that you have.
