About Me, Mrs. Elliott...

I was born in Illinois. We moved to Kansas during my 7th grade year and later moved to Texas where I graduated from college. I have always found anything science related to be fascinating. (What is that on my shoulder?) Even vacations have revolved around seeing and doing new things, as a child and as an adult. What can you observe about me in the photo at the left?

Through the years I have lived in and traveled to a lot of places. A few of my most memorable experiences are:

Visiting the Sacred Well of the Maya at Chichén Itzá, Mexico (I wrote a term paper on this and dreamed of going there, and the dream came true on my honeymoon)
Partaking in a yungona ceremony in the Fiji Islands
Wading through a lava tube (rushing creek flowing through it) as something thick, slippery, and slimy squished between my toes. (Guess what that was?) and then being swept out the open end into the air, and splash-landing in a beautiful green pool below
Wiggling my fingers in the icy waters of the Arctic Ocean on the north coast of Alaska, after having experienced a long endless night with the sun making circles in the northern sky (What? How can that be?)
and there is oh, so much more....
