All About Mrs. McDorman

Who am I?

I was born and raised in a small farming town in Ohio. I moved to Texas in 2004 and absolutely love it here (I don't miss the cold and snow at all!). I have been married to my husband, Colin, for five years. We are both actively involved in education, as he works for an educational software company. My mother in law is also a teacher here in Wylie.

I received my Bachelor's in Science, specializing in Early Childhood Development and Education, from the Ohio State University in 2003. I am an avid Buckeye fan. GO BUCKS!

What do I like to do?

I have a wide variety of interests. My family is extremely important! You can often find me spending time with them. I am also an avid reader. I enjoy many different genres of literature.  Unfortunately for my bank account, I am a notorious shopper. I love watching movies, both old and new.  My husband and I enjoy travelling a great deal. Whether around the states or "across the pond," we are always up for a trip (this is us at Mozart's house!)!  I am what you would call a nature girl who does not like to get dirty- whether at the beach or enjoying a hike. I am also a bit of a nerd, playing computer games, Wii, and PS3!

I am an animal nut. Living at our house we have two cats, Lheeah and Meelah, our ; Slowpoke, and Snappy, our Red Eared Slider ; and Magnus and Snow our . At school we have our own pet that this year is yet to de determined!

Teaching Experience

This is my fifth year at Birmingham. I taught First grade for one year and this is my fourth year in Kindergarten. I absolutely adore young children. There is no greater thrill than watching a child learn something for the first time!

I am also currently serving on the district's English Language Arts (ELA) and Science curriculum writing teams.
