RULES & PROCEDURES

Be on time to class.

Sharpen pencils (no pens to be used in this class)

Put homework or late work in class bin at door

Be sure first and last name, date and period are written on all work

If missed or lost homework pick it up at door

Be in your seat ready to work before the bell rings.

Read Assignment board and enter into ledger

Ledger is to be used for saving all returned homework, tests and notes

Begin warm up

During class all work will be passed to the right and end person will put in class bin

Questions will be asked by me during class by picking name sticks

for extra credit

When taking tests do not talk

After completing test turn it over, sit quietly, study or complete homework

If you have questions raise your hand and sit quietly

Treat everyone with dignity and respect

Follow student handbook - no gum, food, or drink in classroom (water ok)

My desk is off limits

When I say give me five I will raise my hand you should:

1. Eyes on speaker

2. Quiet

3. Be still

4. Hands free (put things down.)

5. Listen

Do not get up when bell rings. Wait until you are excused.

LABORATORY

Prepare for

1. Study laboratory procedure prior to class

Laboratory work

2. Never perform unauthorized experiments

3. Keep laboratory benches organized and free of books and clutter

4 Know how to use eyewash, fire blanket and first aid kit

Dress for

1. Tie back long hair.

Laboratory work

2. Do not wear loose tops as they tend to get in way

3. Wear safety goggles during all laboratory sessions

4. Wear gloves when using chemicals that irritate or can be absorbed through skin

Avoid Contact

1. Never taste or sniff chemicals

with Chemicals

2. When heating a test tube point mouth away from people

Avoid Hazard

1. Use caution when handling glass wear

2. Always notify teacher in case of broken glass

3. When diluting acid, always add acid to water

4. Never add water to acid

Clean Up

1. Consult teacher for proper disposal of chemicals

2. Wash hands thoroughly following experiments

3. Leave laboratory bench clean and neat

In Case of

1. Report all accidents and spills immediately

Accident

2. Place broken glass in designated container

3. Wash all acids and bases from skin immediately with plenty of running water

4. If chemicals get in your eyes, wash them for at least 20 minutes in the eyewash
