Tibbals’ Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for 2009-2010
We
have evaluated student dismissal for the past several years and have made some
changes to our Tibbals Elementary dismissal procedures. Because of past
inconsistencies due to bad weather and most importantly, to ensure the well
being and safety of all children, we will be enforcing these new policies.
One
of the newest changes will be parent parking. For your child’s safety, we would
prefer that parents not park in the front/back parking lots, on Water’s Edge
Way, or Rosewood to pick up car riders or walkers. Parking is ok in the
front parking lot and streets for Friday morning Tiger tracks and special school
events.
Please see the sections below that pertain to your child’s arrival and dismissal
routine. A map of the car pool line and no parking areas is on the back.
Arrival
All
children will need to be dropped off at the front of the building or may loop
around through the back of the building following the drop off line. There will
be several teachers/safety patrol members there to guide your child into the
building. We ask that you encourage your child to open their own car door and to
please stay on the side walk or grass and to not weave in and out of the car
line. For your child’s safety, no children will be allowed to be dropped off at
the back of the building by the cafeteria or gym.
Dismissal
Walkers
-
A walker is defined as a student walking to a house, NOT being picked
up in a car. If you do not want your child walking all the way home, please
consider your child to be a car rider and follow the guidelines below for
car riders.
-
All walkers will be released: Group 1—walked to the corner of Water’s
Edge Way/Rosewood to the crossing guard; Group 2—will be walked out
the 4th grade hallway to the crossing guard on Rosewood. These
are children that are walking home—not to a car on a side street.
-
You may meet your child on foot to walk with them at
the gym entrance facing Water’s Edge Way. You will need to bring your card
to individually check them out with the teachers on duty.
-
If you are picking up your child on foot please be ready to show your walker
tag with your child’s name and teacher’s name. If you do not have this on
you, you will then be sent to the office to show identification.
-
We would prefer that parents not park in the front/back parking lots of the
school, on Water’s Edge Way, or Rosewood to pick up walkers.
-
We will use this same dismissal on Rainy Days. If you prefer your
child to not be exposed to the rain, please consider your child to be a car
rider.
Bike
Riders
-
All bike riders will be
dismissed from the side doors of the gym.
-
All bike riders must
walk their bikes while on the school grounds.
Car
Riders
-
A car rider is defined as a child waiting to be picked up through the car
pool line.
-
All students waiting in the car rider area must be picked up through
the car pool line. For your child’s safety, we would prefer that parents
not park in the parking lot and walk up to the school to get their child.
-
For your child’s safety, we would prefer that parents not park in the
front/back parking lots of the school, on Water’s Edge Way, or Rosewood to
pick up car riders.
-
Left turns are not allowed out of the parking lot onto Rosewood from
7:00-7:30 or 2:30-3:00.
-
Remember your children needs to be picked up promptly upon dismissal at
2:30.
-
There are a few acceptable reasons for parking: appointments with teachers
and/or administrators or other office business (i.e. change in student
information).
Day
Care and Bus Riders
-
All day care and bus riders will be released through the gymnasium.
Parent Dissmisal Changes
-
If you are requesting to change the way in which your child is picked up in
the afternoon we ask that you do one of the following:
-
Send a note to the teacher in the morning explaining how student will be
getting home and the first and last name of the person that will be
picking up student.
-
Call the office to notify teacher of your request to change the
dismissal of your child for that same day before 2:00. We would prefer
that you please do not make any changes to the way your child will be
picked up after 2:00 due to the fact that this is one of our busiest
times of the day and we want to ensure your child arrives home
appropriately and safely.
-
Please do not e-mail teachers of any dismissal changes after their
conference period. Teachers are expected to be teaching and not at
their desks checking e-mail during the day.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these procedures.
Although these changes may be new and different for you, we are looking out for
your child’s best interest and overall safety. We appreciate your patience as we
implement these procedures.
Please remember a note is required on days your child is going home different
from their normal dismissal routine.
We
ask that you please sign and return the note below at your earliest convenience.
Thank you!
