Bradshaw Basics

Hello, My name is Shawnell T. Bradshaw. I have been married to a wonderful man named John for 12 years and I have three beautiful little blessings. I am a graduate of Southwestern Christian College and Texas Woman's University, where I received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. This is my eighth year of teaching experience. I like to sing, shop, read and spend time with my family. Basketball is my favorite sport, and those Dallas Mavericks are my favorite team, of course! Let's Go MAVS! One of my favorite things to do is cuddle up on the sofa with popcorn and watch a GOOD love story!

I was a 4th grade teacher in Wylie I. S. D. at Groves Elementary for three years. I am now in my second year of teaching the great kids at Don E. Whitt Elementary. This is always an exciting experience for me. I really enjoy the kids at this level. My personal teaching philosophy is "Kids don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." Kids are special and unique-every one. They are like wet cement, and as I have an opportunity to make an impression upon their lives, I strive to make it a positive one.

1:20- 1:25 Pack- up/dismissal routines

1:30-2:25 Pack

2:25-2:30 Line-up for dismissal

In order to make the transition into fourth grade a little easier, here are some tips!

Snacks – Our class has a snack time each day. Your child must bring his/her own healthy snack. Cookies, candy, etc. will not be permitted.

Birthday Treats – Due to district health regulations, parents may bring treats as long as it is after 2pm. We want to make sure our students eat a healthy lunch first. J

RE-DO Assignments – Please check your child’s papers that come home in their Tuesday folders each week. There may be some papers that say "Re-do" on the top. Papers can be redone for a maximum grade of 70. These papers must be corrected and turned in or your child will receive his/her original grade.

Paperwork – Please be sure to return any papers that are sent home from the school office as soon as possible.

Room Parent – One of my goals in the next coming weeks is to find a room parent or two. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in doing for our class. Responsibilities will include such things as assisting in planning for classroom parties, chaperoning classroom field trips, etc.

Planners- Planners are sent home daily, and should have your child’s homework for the day and any teacher correspondence written inside. Please make it a point to view and sign your child’s planner each day!
Volunteers - Please let me know if you would like to volunteer to help in our classroom!
